Believe... As a King Once Did.
Over a century ago, a king gave this theatre its roots. Now, it’s your turn to help it bloom.
When a King Watched a Play… and Made History
In 1916, amidst modest stage lights and heartfelt performances, the satire Vinod unfolded before a packed crowd in Kolhapur. But among the audience that night sat someone who would change everything—Chhatrapati Shri Shahu Maharaj.
He didn’t just enjoy the play. He saw the dedication, the purpose, and the undeniable spark in the eyes of amateur artists trying to build something lasting. And in response, he gave:
- A parcel of land in Khasbag
- A donation of ₹6,000
- And something even greater—his trust
That single gesture helped build the first permanent home of the Deval Club’s Natya Shakha. It was a moment where art met faith, and a legacy was born.

Now, Over a Century Later—We Invite You to Join That Legacy
