Sangeet Samrat Ustad Alladiya Khan (1855-1946), the founder of Jaipur Atrauli Gharana of Hindustani Music was born in Uniyara, a place near Jaipur in Rajastan. His birth name was Ghulam Ahmed Khan and his family lineage shows the ancestral links with Nath Vishwambhar & Swami Haridas. He was groomed by his uncle Jehangir Khan in Dhrupad as well as Khayal Gayaki, which has influences in the unique style that he developed to be known as Jaipur Gayaki. Ustad Alladiya Khan has served in the courts of various states in Rajastan before he was invited to Kolhapur by Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shri Shahu Maharaja in 1895. He then migrated to Kolhapur and served as the court singer of the Kolhapur state.
He was in Kolhapur till 1922 and so the spreading of his style of Gayaki has roots in Kolhapur. It is for this reason that Kolhapur is the place of origin for the Jaipur Gharana of Hindustani Music. Gayan Samaj Deval Club is proud to have this doyen of Hindustani music as the Board member of the club. His style has immensely influenced the music performances of the modern age and has many followers. The main disciples of this school includes number of great musicians such as Ustad Haider Khan (His brother), Ustad Manji Khan and Ustad Bhurji Khan (His sons), Pt. Bhaskarbuwa Bakhale, Pt.
